Utilize Questionnaires for PMs, inspections, safety
The following are high-level use cases that would benefit from the flexible Questionnaire framework that is currently part of Compliance:
Permit to Work. Maintenance field workers must complete a "permit to work" questionnaire to ensure safe condition before starting asset-based preventive maintenance or reactive work. They must verify through a risk assessment that the work can be performed safely.
Work Verification. Maintenance field workers must complete a checklist after work completion to verify all proper steps were taken. This is for primarily for preventive maintenance work, and many times this coincides with a compliance regulation.
Condition Assessment. Condition assessors must complete questionnaires related to asset condition in conjunction with field condition assessment projects.
Data collection. Craftspersons have to collect data or meter readings on equipment attributes.

Hi @Ying Qin, (sorry wasn't sure if the @ symbol does anything here)
Yes, it can definitely be associated to a particular location or room. In reality, the actual confined space often is only in a part a room (or maybe two) but if we just point it at the room level that should be fine. It's the idea where there is a space where the height is under 3 feet usually (ie a hatch or some under the boiler space).
Yes it would be good to have the assessment part there too so you can add data to the assessment tables. Companies don't always get a consultant to do this kind of assessment so it does have some fall back to the employees to potentially record a new space that poses a safety concern as they see it (it's not tracked as an incident at that point as no one got hurt, yet). The assessment record itself often seems to fit well in the hazardous abatement application, unless it makes more sense to track it in EHS in a new feature.
Thanks!

Hi Tiffany,
Thanks for your comments!
It sounds to me that the assessment questionnaire could be associated with a particular location/room, and there is also a need for an assessment checklist to be added to a specific work by the supervisor and download to craftsperson's mobile device.
Does this sound right to you?
Thanks!

What are some thoughts about keeping separate, vs. consolidating, the various ways in which "surveys" are handled. On mobile, we have CA, Maintenance, and Compliance. Would it makes sense to have one way to schedule and one way to access all "survey" tasks on mobile? We could separate by "type" what kind of survey: a condition assessment, a PM checklist, or a compliance audit. But they could all be part of one list for the field worker.
Many times the various survey actions are handled by different people (and we could use SLAs to route differently), but I'm thinking many times these are handled by the same people. Would one way to present and handle make sense?

This shouldn't be only be a questionnaire, it should also feed into some sort of assessment table so that you can track the location of where there is a safety concern or a confined space and it's final resolution status through the help of the maintenance staff who are there to fill out the forms.
Basically if they go into a space, realize it's a confined space for example, now they need to request a permit and it needs to be approved by a manager or others before they would begin work. Basically the manager checks that the employee has the proper training or whatever to do the task. Folks want to deal with this on a mobile device instead of needing to find a computer.
The idea of doing this sort of assessment prior to actual maintenance work is because the organizations don't want to be sued where an employee says they got hurt for doing a task where they weren't properly trained for but if there's a record stating they were approved and there was a permit for it then it nulls the claim.
At the same time let's say they spot a safety problem in the assessment...they want to correct with a corrective maintenance request ie. install handrails and therefore the safety concern is mitigated and doesn't show up as an flag for the employee.

I agree with this one too.
Risk, permits and, more generally, prevention plans are largely underserved by the product, and this is linked to regulatory constraints, so something which can't be ignored.
The challenge will be to propose a solution generic enough to comply with regulations in most countries without being tied to any of them. -

How many times can i vote for this?
This has be high up on the list of things to do, if it is difficult to get the assessment over to Maintenance, maybe it will be easier to manage wrcf function (start/stop and notes) within the assessment module? User cannot be fully mobile and paperless until this is addressed. Also Permits and Risk Assessment are must in most tasks carried out by a craftsperson and confirmation that these have been carried out.
Excitech have created a link and auto create Risk Assessment/s in the compliance module fro maintenance works, these have status links to the start/stop and complete function of works. However this is limited by the need to switch between apps, which there is no work around. happy to share what we have done
