Floorplan importer enhancements and warnings
When new versions of existing floorplans are imported there should be a warning if spaces (and employees) will be removed due to that import. This is a problem because often the floor id on the importer 'refreshes' to the first floor in the list and an entire floor of data & occupancy is lost because the wrong floor is loaded.
There are lots of suggestions that we have to reduce this risk. In order of preference:
- A warning identifying specific spaces and occupants that will be removed with the import & an option to proceed or cancel.
- A cancel button that will stop the import if we recognize an issue prior to the import completing.
- Trial Run button like in My Imports which will show a the results prior to doing the real import.
- A popup with the new floorplan preview before results are confirmed.
- A warning popup that explicitly states the Floor being overwritten and the drawing name loaded with a 'Confirm' or 'Cancel' option.
- Enlarge the floor select box; some of our floors are suite numbers and we can't see all 4 characters on the import screen.
- A generic popup warning that just says 'Data may be lost.... are you sure?'

The other way to look at it is if the SpaceID for each polygon is tied with the Space Name, when a wrong floorplan is upload by mistake, prior to the upload completion, the system can detect a % threshold space name changes in the CAD drawings, then warn the user to confirm. Because supposedly, Space Names should be changed in Spaces or VBS module, not in CAD. So once this happens it is very likely to be a sign that human error is about to happen...

This feature would help a lot in avoiding unexpected changes that cause downstream impact.

As a System Admin, we need a feature deployed before importing to detect or show prompt messages, if the data (Space Name, Space Type) changed drastically in the new CAD file. It can also be a trial run if feasible. We use SpaceID as a primary key to integrate with multiple other systems internally, and if a wrong floorplan (due to human error) is imported, the SpaceID will change and it interrupts the connection with other downstream systems.

This would also help prevent wiping out of all data if the wrong check box(s) are checked. i.e. Clear everything on floor (spaces & teams)
Update May 6, 2022: Due to Serraview not having a Trial Import option, and an easily made mistake in the CAD file layer settings, we have suffered data loss for a floor plan, that affected room record deletion, people assignments being removed, Teams & Neighborhood assignments to space being removed, Desk Reservations being removed, both past and future.
This simple mistake of layers in the CAD file is because the layer was Frozen instead of being Turned off. The import process does not recognize the layers if they are Frozen and will ignore them if Frozen.

When uploading a single floor plan it would help prevent uploading incorrect floorplans to incorrect floors if the floor number drop down DID NOT default populate with the first floor number inn the building.
It would be helpful if you HAD to choose the floor number, as there have been numerous instances when people have accidently missed double checking the floor number and imported over the first floor. -

Ability to run a trial import on your floorplan like the data imports allow so that we can see everything that will change first before potentially losing live data. This will also help the defaulting to first floor in the building and accidentally overwriting data. if we run a trial, we can see that there were too many changes and review everything before pushing to live.

Update the default settings for floorplan imports to set the line weight to thin - the current default is impacting SQFT calculations
