Build Field Worker mobile app on different framework
Consider significant overhaul of mobile framework, built on React or another responsive design platform. Consider the need for semi-connected states.
Question: is a semi-connected state a requirement?

Need to include the same features, time log punchins, Checklists, Parts Assignments. I watched the AutoDesk University review of the new app OnSite this looks really good but is missing some of the key features addressed above unless i missed something.

As with everything else in Archibus, the new app's code must be open and accessible so that clients or their BP's can adjust to particular needs.

Semi-connected would be ideal. We do have clients with areas of low or no connectivity. Plus, in my experience users expect a mobile app to act in a semi-connected state where they just work and it syncs up as soon as it can without them thinking about it.

With any overhaul of the mobile framework, please consider support for a Windows 10 application. More and more organizations are using Microsoft Surface as their mobile devices and we do not have a solution that meets this need. Ideally, the new solution would support iOS, Android, and Windows 10. Windows Mobile is optional from my experience.

From Ashley Nuttall:
Global Switch have little to no wifi and mobile assess as part of the security plan for the building. They have fitted Wifi access to only a few point in corridors and tea break areas. Some of our other client work in basements or Roof area, out in remote location (sport facilities) that have limited range. For some this is getting better but often the ITT requires the system to be available of offline capabilities. I understand the balance but I think it would be a great loss if we lose the ability to work offline but agree there may be options to meet somewhere in the middle by reviewing what needs to be done and just make that work.

Another great idea for the significant overhaul would be that the App work online by default, and only when the Craftsperson goes to a place with no connection, he/she could start "offline mode". And even in that case, synchronizations should be partial and only for the amount of records the User needs to synchronize (currently, every time the user synchronizes, the synchronization process updates everything in the mobile, even complete background data).

The system must work off line, we have many client with limited to no access to the business network when working, but access to the main database for live checks would be beneficial. I agree an overhaul of the mobile app would be good, with better integration of the functions link questionnaires a must.
