  1. When user session expired in Smart client, the user will get the “Unable to connect to WebCentral server at the specified URL….” Error message and then he need to go back to the login screen to check the SAML authentication. Client found it annoying that everyday they have to close the error dialog, re-choose the project so that they can go into the login screen, then re-choose the option to pick on "USE SAML authentication" and then wait for a minute to get the login screen to load.   2. In smart client if I want to view to table, I open the view, but if I want to check another table, I have to close the current view to open another table view, and then if I want to go back to the first view I was looking at again I need to close the current view to open the previous one. This all becomes very frustrating.

    So this suggestion is to have option to open these views in additional tabs so you can open multiple ones at the same time.

  4. Layers coming out of Revit during the publishing process are not configurable and do not match existing CAD layers. Clients can directly control DWG/DXF layers when exporting independently but Archibus is exporting via a set template. Can a client use a custom DWG/DWF Template when exporting so layers in published files match between CAD and Revit?

  5. Some customers request to have a better publishing color rules for Revit.
    As you can see in the screenshots, the room delimiter, and some walls in Revit have special colors. But when it is published in Webcentral, the room delimiter is another color, and the wall are grey.

  6. I was wondering what you may think of this feedback on adding addition elements to check in the Archibus model checker. As clients are using the Archibus Model Checker, they still come across issues we learned so the model checker seems to be more focused on data readiness but there’s also an element of model readiness which Smart Client verifies before publishing. An example is a publishing error like this:

  8. Smart Client Read Only - Easy role/security to allow power users to have Smart Client and AutoCAD Overlay in a 'read only' role. This would allow ad-hoc queries for users that have learned the data structure but are not editors. We would also like planners to be able to do afm highlights and query highlights in AutoCAD, but not able to edit data.

  9. One of our customer (on premise) is using Ping Certificate to handle SSO connexions.
    While WebCentral works perfectly, SmartClient does not allow connexion.

    After a deep enquiry with Archibus support, we ended up discovering that Ping Certificate's response consist in a multi-dimensional cookie, not supported by SmartClient.

    The demand is to improve SmartClient to also support multi-dimensional cookies (best guess : contact the Ping editor).

  10. Hi there,

    We have some activity switching to Open ID Connect (the login arm of OAuth2) for Archibus authentication. The remote user configuration can be adapted to work for Web Central, and it seems to work on most mobile devices as well. However, the Smart Client login process does not support this. It would be great to have the additional option for clients as OAuth2 for ID becomes more widespread.

  11. v25 has exposed a lost of functionality with the AutoCAD edit data command. The edit data pop-up in Smart Client no longer allows the edit of a Department Code without the parent Division Code to be entered; the same can be said for the Room Type / Room Category.

    Per Tech Support "This disallowing of entering data directly into a child field was a intentional change in the product design for reasons of application performance and data integrity."

    This greatly increases the time it takes to input data.

It has been brought to my attention by clients and confirmed by Archibus that with the newer versions of Smart Client (Probably v2022 and after?), users will be kicked after 30 minutes of inactivity. In all other previous versions, users were able to remain in Smart Client indefinitely. This is favorable for our CAD/Revit users who may spend their entire day in CAD/Revit or Smart Client. Archibus says this change was made because the indefinite connection was problematic for SSO users so they've now hard-coded a 30 minute timeout.

    I'm suggesting that this Smart Client timeout be configurable. A setting…

  13. As a Space Manager I would like to be able to generate statistics that include data from standard tables using the Analysis tool. Now the standard fields are shown in the Smart Client grid but are missing from the Analysis reports.
    Our clients export the data and use Excel to generate a statistics report. We do have some predefined custom reports but this Analysis tool would be a great added value if it included the standard tables. The clients should be able generate new statistics on the fly without our intervention or technical limitations.
    I have attached a detailed description.

  14. Currently Smart Client does not support TLS 1.3 encryption protocol, however our clients are starting to ask for this. Furthermore, since TLS 1.0 and 1.1 have known vulnerabilities at this time, it is only a matter of time before a vulnerability in TLS 1.2 is found. If a TLS 1.2 vulnerability is found, it will be very bad for our clients as IT departments may begin blocking TLS 1.2 connections, which will render Smart Client unusable.

  15. Starting with v 25.x, 'Edit Data' box in SC Extension does not allow picking a value for a lower/child level data field, such as 'Department Code' unless you first pick the parent level. This has been reported as a pain point by some of our customers as it requires that you know the parent first, which is not always the case. We suggest that the original capability of selecting the child is put back in SCE.

  17. Smart client currently does not allow mass deletion via the Transfer feature. Only add and update. To delete you have to do it one by one or edit all entries in a way that allows for identification of deletion and delete screen by screen.

    This is very difficult to maintain correct tables for User Security and Employees.

  18. ARCHIBUS should respect clipped XREF boundaries set in CAD.

    At present ARCHIBUS ignores them when publishing enterprise graphics, resulting in the entire XREF being shown. The best alternative we can offer clients with readability problems on especially large floor plans (100k+ SqFt) is to break up the source CAD file, which solves that problem but introduces other drawing management challenges. Respecting clipped XREF boundaries would make it possible to maintain a single source CAD background for large floor plans.

  19. SmartClient SAML sign-in opens an authorization form popup, which shows the Web Central home page after authentication succeeds.
    The user then needs to click the OK button to close the authorization form.

    It would be nice if SmartClient closes the authorization form automatically once the Web Central home page loaded successfully.

  20. When publishing CAD plans, ARCHIBUS reports an OK at the end.
    This happens even if no SVG file was created as a result.
    The user does not recognize whether the publication was complete, partial or not.

    The customer request is that the publishing function logs when an object could not be processed successfully.
    The information should accurately identify the object (e.g. via ehandle) and, if possible, also identify the problem that led to the error.

    The publication should not be aborted, but rather skip the unpublished object if necessary and log this.

    Documentation should be in the protocol.
