Linear asset functionality as a core within Asset Management
Writing upon request. There has been some effort to generate some linear asset functionality within Archibus as a extension. However, we are asking that the features are available as a more permanent module or be part of asset management. Such assets to manage include but are not limited to: sewer, water lines, wastewater, roads, sidewalks, eletrical lines, telecommunication lines and more.
Archibus would ideally need to be able to do the following:
- track inventory - linear assets tend to have tracking related to the length (for example, in km), condition, age, risk, remaining life
- ability to view linear assets that have permits and activities to them (which often are only in affect from a certain point to an end point)
- view long term lifecycle events - events that are forecasted to affect asset CI, remaining life, condition & predictive maintenance
- detoriation curves for assets for the purposes of planning and forecasting long term lifecycle
- create capital budgeting plans and projects around linear assets where work is only done at a specific starting point to an end point - a kilometer tracking
- create work orders associated to a linear asset of where work is needed from a starting point to an end point, usually by kilometers.
- map based reporting to show the linear assets as well as search criteria of certain kilometers
Note: it is possible to not track at the kilometer level because many GIS data is capturing linear assets in segments. So it is possible to pinpoint a segment where an activity/issue/event is.

Agree. Archibus needs to level up on Asset Management. Lifecycle, project planning and scenarios analysis will be great. In saying this, Archibus need to consider quantity of an asset and its unit type(m,no, m2...etc) as a permanent field.

What a great idea!
